Sgt. Christopher Hrbek Memorial Scholarship

The Sgt. Christopher Hrbek Scholarship, in the amount of $2,500, will be awarded annually to a graduating student at Westwood High School.  This student should demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a career involving service to others.    

On January 14, 2010, our community lost a hero.  Christopher Hrbek was a 2002 graduate of Westwood High School who overcame academic challenges.  He was giving, kind, motivated, funny, dedicated and patriotic.  These qualities, along with his desire to serve his community, helped him to achieve his goal of becoming a United States Marine.  

Please attach a letter of thanks to a person of service who has influenced your life with their dedication and service to their community or country.   The letter should be at least 1 page, typed, and should include details about how you have been influenced by this person and their actions. 

Completed applications must be submitted to the Westwood High School Guidance Office by May 15th  for consideration. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.
